Darlene Burkett

Darlene joined the Global Ministries staff in November 2003.

Darlene grew up in Roanoke, Ind. She graduated from Huntington University in 1978 with a degree in Music. She and Phil were married in 1979 after he graduated from HU.

They went off to Louisville, Kent., where Phil attended seminary. Then they moved to Jackson, Mich., for four years. There, Phil was associate pastor and then senior pastor of Gethsemane UB church.

Phil and Darlene were among the original missionaries sent to Macau in the 1986. The Burketts served there for four years. They returned from the field in 1990, and Phil became senior pastor of the UB church in Toronto for six years. Then it was back to Huntington, where Phil has been Minister of Music ever since.

Darlene plays the organ and piano at College Park, and also teaches handbells at Huntington University. Her student handbell choir comes to the office each December to serenade the staff.
