2009 US National Conference

June 4-7
Huron, Ohio

Design a Logo for the Conference

Got any graphic artists in your church? Professional or otherwise?

We need a logo for the 2009 US National Conference. Rather than developing it in-house, we're opening it up to the broader United Brethren constituency. We know our churches are loaded with talented people. We'll use the logo on all conference materials, this website, T-shirts, and other items.

Deadline: July 31.
Eligibility: You must currently attend a United Brethren church

The Logo Elements

We're using the name XLR8 (a text-message version of "Accelerate") with a racing theme. Think Nascar in particular. The logo needs three parts:

  1. Primary text/title: XLR8
  2. Secondary text: "Spread the Word Rapidly"
  3. Imagery: Use a racing/Nascar-ish metaphor (can just pertain to car racing in general; just avoid any Nascar trademark infringement).

Be as creative as you want with those parts. We're just looking for a quality logo. Bishop Ramsey wants the logo to convey motion, action, to go along with the "Accelerate" theme.

Format

To use the logo in our various materials, we need one of these formats:

  • Adobe Illustrator. Submit a vector file (EPS), which we can scale to any size. This is the preferred format.
  • Adobe Photoshop. With Photoshop, you'll need to use these specifications:
    • At least 11 inches wide.
    • 300 dpi.

You can submit a JPEG or PNG file initially. But if we decide to use your logo, we'll need the original Illustrator or Photoshop file, with any layers and original artwork.

Submitting Your Design

Send a JPEG or PNG version of your logo to:

Include this information:

  • Your full name
  • Your address
  • The name and location of the United Brethren church you attend. (You must currently attend a United Brethren church to be eligible.)

Submit as many designs as you want. But do it by July 31.

If your logo is selected, we'll send you a check for $100. No, it's not much for a graphic artist. But hey, it's something.

If you have any questions, contact Steve Dennie.
